Multiple Sclerosis

What is Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body. Eventually, the disease can cause the nerves themselves to deteriorate or become permanently damaged. Symptoms and severity of MS can vary for each patient depending on how much nerve damage has occurred and where these nerves are located. If you or someone you know is living with MS, there are many different medications that your doctor may recommend to you. These medications can control symptoms and even reduce the severity of the disease.
